A recent quiz here at the university a lot of people that said they had heard of it thought it was in the Preamble of the Constitution, the Gettysburg address or Dr. Kings "I have a dream" speech. Meh. It may just be that I'm old.

@SumoSnipe: I recall learning about that in both 7th (social studies) and 8th grade (us history). I can't say that I could quote much more than the most well known parts but I don't feel obligated to memorize a poem when I grasp the idea behind it.
