    2. Just what sort of accessories would someone ever need to attach to the rails of that thing? Not like a laser or a flashlight would really be practical. I could see attaching one of those little shotguns underneath, and putting a grip on the side maybe…

    3. @sylvanish: The rails are required to hold all the awesome.

    4. I wish you could attach the grenade launcher from the M16 (balls go in gun nerd mouths now). You’d have a grenade launcher on your grenade launcher.

Yo dawg, I herd you like grenades, so we put a grenade launcher on your grenade launcher so you can fire grenades while firing grenades.

    5. @sylvanish: The rail systems allows for any number of accessories, just like the foregrip the guy already has attached.

Believe it or not, a tac light could actually prove to be somewhat useful. Keep in mind these aren’t like your normal flashlight, and the better ones can shine extremely brightly at good distances.

Another thing you may want to put on it is something like an AN/PEQ-2, which can put out an infrared laser and beam to illuminate areas through night vision optics.

    7. A flashlight would be very practical, light up what you want to shoot at. Yeah then you need to lift up the weapon and take the light off target. But adding 1913 rails to every weapon in as many places as possible is tacticool.

And VFG on the handguards is very pracitcal, 12,3, and 9, not as much

    9. Is a flashlight actually useful in combat outside of room-clearing? Wouldn’t it just make you a bright target to aim at?

    11. @sylvanish: Yes. Sometimes, you have to make certain of what you’re shooting at. Other times, it could be as simple as illuminating a suspicious object. You’re right, though. You’re not supposed to really use your tac light in an open environment unless it’s absolutely necessary, as how it’s pretty much broadcasting your position. Just a call you’ve got to make as to whether or not you should do it. One thing they come in quite handy for is stopping traffic at night.

The great thing about using them with room clearing is that if you do it right, shining one of those lights in somebody’s face in the middle of the night after they just woke up can be just as effective as a punch in the face. Wake up and the first thing you see if an excruciatingly blinding light pointed at your face? Pretty effective.

    12. I should correct something I said, or at least clarify it.

“Sometimes, you have to make certain of what you’re shooting.” Not that you don’t need to make sure what you’re shooting at in any scenario, just saying that a tac light can certainly help in that regard sometimes.
