  3. My dad does this with furniture, actually. Whenever my mother’s considering getting a new lamp or cabinet or something, my dad will make it for her out of cardboard to see how it looks. We had a functional computer desk made of refrigerator boxes for awhile.

    I talked my parents into letting me use the fridge box as a fort when I was a kid. It was so awesome.

  5. @outofocus: Yeah! We moved houses once and the boxes for clothes were the best for forts–they were like tall closet-boxes with a bar to hang clothes on.
