@w0x, while 200 bullet guy is busy throwing 20 lbs. and a fortune in lead into the air, someone with a properly designed weapon will put one bullet exactly where it needs to go. The only difference is that they’ll need a little skill (read: actual firearm badassness, if such thing exists) to do so.

Seriously, there is a place for high rate of fire weapons. They’re called machineguns. They dominated both world wars and they are still the main kill weapon for gunner squads on the battlefield. Most other volume throwers are special use weapons (the uzi has some uses. some.), expensive toys, or a crutch to ward off one’s own lack of accuracy.

And no, you don’t have to reload every 5-8 seconds. Assuming an army standard rifle/carbine, you are moving, acquiring your target, letting off a 3 shot burst, and then moving again. If you’re sitting there letting off shot after shot, you’ve already lost your window of opportunity.
