Australians do not refer to Australia as ‘Oz’ (at least not commonly).

We do refer to Australians as ‘Aussies’ (never spelt ‘ozzy’), though.

I honestly never put the two together. Perhaps it’s because people that say Oz and mean Australia are different then the stereotype that I have of Australians.
