Yeah, but all those regions are somewhat balanced. No one country dominates the EU, and the smaller countries’ prosperity has compensated for the relative lack of influence. Also, there is no Asian union. Maybe you’re thinking of a Shanghai pact? That includes some European states. African Union is a weak duck and local economic unions tend to be where the action is there.

Mexico and Canada would never allow it to happen. If Harper even tried anything like that he’d get a vote of non-confidence without question – even his own party would turn against him – and we’d have another Kim Campbell 2-seat election. Mexico is leaning towards protectionism and unless it included facilitated immigration, they wouldn’t go for it, and America wouldn’t go for open borders with Mexico in a million billion years.

Yes Ken, I do see trends, but not evil conspiracies. A nafarious secret international cabal bent on destroying the free people of US and Candada and forcing them in a New World Order state is a little too “tin-foil hat” for me. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe we live a “James Bond” world.

gor, you honestly don’t believe they’re not working on a North American Union? You actually call it a conspiracy? how blind can you be. African Union, Asian Union, EU, etc. the worlds being divded into 5 or 6 zones. Of course theres an NAU coming. Sure, not overnight, might take like 20 years, but its coming. Any idiot can see it.

Goddamn Reboot, you are the first person I heard who knows how the Supreme Court, and the baser aspects of the congress, actually does business, “Gold Star” for you!

As for Ron Paul, about half of his ideas where great and I could really support them, but the other half of his ideas are pretty crazy (conspiracies like a secret cabal building a NAFTA Superhighway and forming US-Canada-Mexico into one country called the North American Union, among other things), his view of isolationism is not responsible or practical and the large quantity of of his weirdo “supporters” were embarrassing, I mean come on, leagions of oddly shaped people dress in poorly made super-hero costumes and all the 9-11 Truffers does say a little about the man’s character (and it’s not reassuring).

The Supreme Court only hears the most diffcult cases. The usually get 7,000 petitions a year and only decide on about 100 cases. Of those 100 cases, only a few are split decisions and even within that subset, its usually clear which side is a strict interpretation (to the letter) versus broad interpretation. So 99.9% of the time it is easy to interpret the constitution to the letter.
The sad thing is that so many legislators completely ignore the Constitution in the first place. They pass bills that they know won’t hold up under scrutiny to appease ignorant voters and to rake in the lobbyist money.
