In fact, the scooter IS turned off, which is why the gas tank seems empty.

In point of fact, I DID stick a wristwatch on my dash. Many scooters don’t have clocks, so I found a $10 watch that matched my scooter fairly well, and stuck it on with exterior mounting tape. Cheap workaround=WIN

The small print that makes the lower line of the “L” actually says “date”. As if I wouldn’t know what that part of my watch said….oh wait…
