The weapon was designed as a “Katrina” gun not as an instant home defence weapon. The gun is a Panther DPMS model a4 chambered in .223, it has a 16″ barrel. It has a 3-point tactical sling, and a streamlight flashlight with a CAA quick detach mount, with a streamlight pressure switch. The forehand grip is also from CAA. Again the i built the rifle not for immediate self-defense but for a “Katrina” hurricane like situation in which law and order have collasped. For home defense I have a thompson submachine gun chambered in .45 cal. which has far superior terminal ballistics in the short range.

I didnt say the .45 cal had better ballistics, I said it had better terminal ballistics at short range, which is an indication of how much damage it does based on the amount of energy it is transfering to the target. The .45 APC round is one of the best man stopper ever produced. As for the second part of your comment you are partially correct, there used to be lots of frangible rounds in .223, however LE sector has basically sucked up all the supply. I also have a red dot, but as I described in an earlier post the weapon is designed as a tactically flexible weapon meant to deal with a Katrina scenrio.

Actually nimbo at close range the .223 has some problems because the barrel twist has been dramtically increased. During the vietnam war, it was 1:6, now it is 1:9 this has improved accuracy but all but reduced the famous tumbly (end over end) effect the .223 used to make at close range. It still has a tendacy at medium ranges but at close range it has been compared to a flying ice pick, going way to fast through targets and not transfering much energy to the target. Now tests have shown at medium and long ranges the round will also “yaw” which produces odd shaped wounds. I stand by my comments about the .45 cal. The round was created to deal with drug addled Philipeono (sic) insurgents in the early 20th century. Traditional .380 smith and wesson revlovers were not stopping them thats why the army created the .45 to put people down and keep them down. While modern hollowpoints (I use .45 hollowpoints) have dramatically increased the damage to scare tissue they dont increase the amount of energy that is transfered to a target this is a crucial aspect. The key to the .45 is its dramatically increased weight over rounds like the .38, 9mm, or .40 SW.

Actually i consider people who debate ballistics and the merits of different firearms to be an indication that they are capable, experianced and not likely to shoot themselves in the foot in the middle of night at the first sign of a disturbance.

Your dismissal of different caliburs as “its a bullet. hitting someone” to be a really good indication of your total lack of knowledge when it comes to firearms, which in its self is not a bad thing, but maybe it would be a good idea for you to stick to topics that concern: bareknuckle fighting, hauling lumber and sanding objects. Actually I was there fool, and my gf at the time was getting her cell phone blown up by text messages calling for the lynching of wogs, it was a pretty scary moment (how else would i know about your tv shows). So I dont think OZ is racist but it is not the liberal utopia it likes to think it is, and many of the actions taken by aussies in their daily lives is an indication that their has not been a modern civil rights movement (I heard continious and numerous racial ephitats shouted at an essendon footie match).
