  1. lol My job in the Navy is an avionics technician on SH-60F SeaKnight helicopters; The Navy’s Anti-mine/Search-and-rescue/payload-carrier/support verson of the Army’s more well-known UH-60 Blackhawk. In two years, I’m striking for Aircrew and if I land gunner, I’m fashioning myself one of those.

Come to think of it, I think this picture IS of an SH-60; Army UH-60′s are dark green while the Navy’s are that gray color.

  2. And before those typical interwab gun-nuts get here and start scrolling wikipedia and screeching THERE AR NO GUNZ ON DA SH-60FOX; When I strike in two years, I’ll be transitioning onto HH-60H “Hotel” choppahs w/ 2 door gunner spots. Hotel is used more for SAR than ferrying boxes like the SH-60Foxtrot is. I like Search and Rescue more than carrying bigass boxes from ship to ship.

  3. ZAAAACKLY…. Since we always know WAY more than we care to explain, then we get slammed for not explaining the shit THEY should have known before THEY posted… So anyway, rock on man.. 10 years as an AT here, then I cross-rated to something that will make me more money when I retire… brown-shoes rock.

  4. Word. Cuz, internet law states, ” HE WHO DOES NOT CLEARLY DEFINE EVERY ASPECT OF EVERY DETAIL IN GREAT SCRUTINY ON INTERNET BOARDS; SO SHALL HE BE SLAMMED WITH INNACURACIES, APPLICABLE OR NOT.”

I’m still young though, a fresh 20 years. I’m still thinking about getting my bachelor’s and becoming a helicopter polit. I don’t know. SO many options.

  5. I retired with 4,500 flight hours as a navy helicopter aircrew, it is one of the best damn jobs out there. My last aircrafts were the SH-60F and the HH-60H, both carried M-240 machine guns and the Hotel carried a Ma Duece (.50 caliber mg) along with a Hellfire missiles. The new MH-60S has increased capabilities compared to the Hotel version that it will replace.

As for cargo, SAR and general utility ops, all navy helicopters do that and often.

Demo, before y0u go, you better be sure your math is up to par and physically in shape (go to the aircrew shop and ask to pt with them, the SAR Petty Officer should help you there).
