    I lived in Johnson County for 6 years and I can say that 1. JoCo is not in Kansas City; it is mainly the suburbs of Kansas City like Olathe, Overland Park, Lenexa, etc. 2. This person is probably a huge bitch and her husband will probably leave her for a younger woman once she starts looking old. At least, that seems to be the trend.
    I am SO GLAD I no longer live in Johnson County.

MCS Collection – shot glasses

Back when I was in high school my sister did a bit of traveling, and everywhere she went, she would bring me back a shot glass from that corner of the world. So, I have shot glasses from France, the UK, Ireland, Japan, chine, Los Vegas, Canada and many many other places. She hasnt’ gotten a new shotglass in a few years, but everyone that sees the collection thinks that I’m all about the shot glasses, so I frequently get them as traveling gifts from others too. I’ve likely gotten about 10 of them this way. My latest is one from “rock city” up in the Smokey Mountains.

   oh yeah- the .44 Magnum has hand made walrus ivory grips made by a native up near the ANWAR region of Alaska. He cracked both grips, and repaird them. This was hauled through the bush for years in defense of BEARS. Holster worn with genuine need. I am rebuilding it and customizing it for my nephew to inherit. (Ditto for the .45)

   I could have easily taken photos of 20+ more collections of mine. IT IS A CURSE. LOL And, i’ve just ended up with a lot of stuff, too.

   Well, thanks for the welcome. I have a feeling I’ll be making a lot of observations, it’s kinda my thing. And, storminator, don’t worry… A lot of stuff is good, in my case that means mostly clothes and books. Mix that with an inclination for untidiness and you’ve got a very high risk of breaking your legs just walking across the room. Is your stuff that dangerous?

Collections of Collections

For anyone who’s visited the House on the Rock in southwestern WI, you know that there’s more random collections of bizarre unrelated crap (the collections contain related items but the collections themselves aren’t really related at all, just strung next to each other in a vaguely museum fashion).

Here’s a few pics of the freakshow collections of carousel animals, dolls, concrete elephants, mannequins, armor they have; there’s also a collection of Titanic-related documents, stained-glass constructions, room-sized automaton musicians, and much much more from what can only be described as an acid-induced warehouse of weird.

   I think acid-induced warehouse of weird is a perfect description for The House on the Rock. I went in there once with my family, and I think it took me about 2 hours to re-adjust to reality by the time we made it out of there. The carousel with the red lanterns and the strange, demonic horses was a particular favorite. I think some of the collections in there are awesome, but they are arranged so poorly that they give me some kind of metal overload.

   Acid induced warehouse, yes. Insanely cool house, yes. Infinity room ftw, my wife hates walking out there especially when there is some wind, the whole thing sways a couple feet.
