back when I lived in tampa, I remember reading a story about the the mayor’s house being broken into in the middle of the night by a guy high on draino looking for some more cleaning products. My best friend is 5 inches shorter and 100 lbs. lighter than me, and doesn’t do any exercise more strenuous than bike-riding. Why should she have to attempt to fight off an average man, who’s 7 inches taller and 110 lbs. heavier? If someone decides to make trouble for her, it’s her right to blow him away.

The average woman does need a strong weapon for self-defense.

I have always had a weapon handy whileliving in a rural area. The local law enforcement cannot protect you when it takes 15-30 minutes to arrive. Luckily we have passed a conceal carry law.

i dont own a gun. i did serve in the army in the mid 90′s and i qualified expert in BRM from the get fucking go. the reason i dont own a gun is because i have small children in my home. i’m sure i will purchase one or two once the smallest is in his teens.

at least i hope to be able to purchase a handgun in 10 years, unless fuckers like you fuck it up for the non-idiots in America who can handle a firearm without shooting up a mall, school, or bingo hall.

As a gun owner I will tell you that I’m not about to lay down my guns and make myself more vulnerable just to make guns more expensive for the people who would use them for bad. I don’t care if the person that broke into my house has a gun or not, he better not pick the wrong bedroom door. The only thing you have a right to in this world imo are the things you worked to get and I’ll be darned if he gets his hands on my stuff and I let him walk out of there.

@ AbNo : Way to go failing to understand all the points I made. The point I make is that if there were less legal guns there would be less illegal guns and people would not have to buy guns for self defence. Guns would be expensive but neither rich or poor people would need guns for self defence. Guns should not be a commodity for the reasons I told in the previous post.

@ natedog : Why do you keep bringing up the second amendment? It’s not the bucking bible. It can (and in my opinion should) be changed. You also fail to understand that a gun is an “instakill” weapon even in untrained hands while a knife in untrained hands is not. It is easier to shoot someone because you know the victim will not stand up to fight after the first shot. Carrying a gun doesn’t mean you don’t get shot. The person who will shoot you will always have the advantage of surprise. You will not have time to draw your weapon before you get killed (and the bad guys will then have one more illegal handgun thanks to you carrying one).

Tougher gun control means less legal guns which means less illegal guns which means increased safety.
