Centralia, Pennsylvania. This ghost town has had a mine fire burning for 46 years, resulting in the town’s abandonment. They used this town as an inspiration for the Silent Hill film.
One of the places I’d kill to visit.

Yeah, the fires are still burning. If you go you can see the smoke billowing up out of the ground, and few sad and pathetic buildings that are left. There is also an abandoned section of highway, where the road used to go straight now takes a sharp turn to go around the burning area.
