Good movie based around this battleship and it’s crew: Otokotachi no Yamato

Proably one of the best non-hollywood WWII movies I’ve ever seen.

The kanji on the plank actually reads Nagato, it was before the Yamato class came to be.

And Vygramul, the Yamato would have torn apart the Iowa-class. In fact, the reason Japan bombed Pearl Harbor was to take out the battleships because they had believed the Naval battles would be won and lost by the firepower of the battleships. Since they took out or crippled the mass of our battleships, it didn’t really make a difference because we were planning on using or Aircraft carriers and submarines to take out their superior firepower.

We knew we could not take their battleships head-on, se we relied on stealth and aerial assaults on them. They mis-judged us, took out the ships we were not going to rely on, and then go slaughtered by undersea and aerial asaults. Yamato herself was taken down by aircraft, her sistership the Musashi was taken down by submarines, and the third Yamato-class [which was halted mid-construction and converted to a 78,000 ton carrier] was also sank by submarine.

I know. I’m American, and [SURPRIZEZZZ] I’m joining the Navy, AND [maor surprizerz] as a Gunner’s Mate. So I’m gunna be on the deck of a battleship firin’ off the 16-inch gunz at foreigners.

I’ve also been working out hard the past month or so, running and lifting hard so I can attempt to meet and beat US Navy SEALs qualifying times. Then I can volunteer for SEALs, and be a badass kilin machine.
