According to the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy book series, Ford Prefect implies that the one most beautiful spaceships Evar is a, ;Checked; RW6. On page 732 of the “Trilogy in five parts” book.

The ship is also seen by Arthur Dents Daughter, and is described as “..astounding. Silver, Sleek, Ineffable. .. An RW6 was the sort of thing you only saw in magazines designed to provoke civil unrest.”

Spaceships shouldn’t be beautiful. They should be cheap, utilitarian and have a really cool name. Also, movie space ships get many bonus points for being realistic.
