The Dillon M134D Gatling Gun is a six barreled, electrically driven machine gun chambered in 7.62mm NATO and fires at a fixed rate of 3,000 shots per minute (50 shots per second).

    isn’t 50 rounds per second a bit wasteful? it’s just overkill. i mean isn’t 5 or even 10 rounds per second enough to get a boner over AND kill anything around?

    big uses for this ‘wall of lead’ include Close In Weapons Systems on carriers.. 50 rounds a second is useful in attempting to stop an anti-ship missle. And think about what 50 bullets a second would do to armored vehicles.

    Assuming the armor is thick enough, 50 rounds/sec won’t do much, but it’ll sure as hell make a racket.

    what the hell are you talking about the 5o rps will eat right into any armor. some armor may resist but it will get through.

    It might not be able to break through Depleted Uranium (in a reasonable amount, i.e. infinite rounds will eventually) but Concentrated fire from a gatling gun will dismantle a tank. Over a prolonged period. Will easily reduce a normal VBIED into rubble.

    Remember, the armour is only stopping one bullet at a time. However if each impact has the tiniest effect, yes, over time it would fuck you up.

    And if you are on the receiving end of that (excluding fratricide), you aren’t well armored. That will really fuck your day up.
