So would these hold up to firing?  I know that gold isn’t as strong as a metal as steel.

    My guess is that the barrel (inside the gun) is made out of steel, and can handle the pressure/temperature, or that it is gold plated, or some alloy that can handle SOME firing, but not full on gangster firefight type ammunition consumption. Mostly just there to look good on a Generals hip.

    if they’re solid 24k gold, no, of course not. i’m guessing they’re gold-plated though.

    Gold plated.
    Gold wouldn’t hold up. I think they might actually explode in your hands if they were 18k and up. Purer gold gets a little malable.

    There’s a gold plated Desert Eagle for sale on the manufacturers website. I like the copper coloured one better.
    I’d like to see a chromed S and W 500 myself.
