Site news : school sucks

so it’s been too long since I’ve done a site wide announcement post, so here I am.  Had my first ‘in a room’ class since like 3 years ago, and verily it did suck.  I hate going back to school.  And this is a speach class too, so blah on that shit.  I’m going to have to make a speech.

So since it’s a new year, and a new semester, and I’m bored, I’m going to change up the site’s theme and lay out.  To those that like change, this will be good.  For those that don’t like change, please join me in a drink of Jack, and we’ll get over this horrid, horrid day together.

Anyone else have a first day of class today?

    I had first day of class today, too, but as a TA. Quantum Chemistry 551, it will be a fun quarter.

    School fucking sucks! It’s totally pointless. I make a good living as a senior programmer and I learned none of what I do in any school (even college). Ok, I learned to read and write. Great, so that justifies school up to like grade 4. And I’m a guy so I already knew math. The rest was just a baby sitting service. Seriously, I found a programming language that hardly anyone knows and learned it myself. School was almost as big a waste of time as all that time my parents made me rot in church.

    Yeah, I started my second quarter at Art Institute today - Computer Apps (boo, hiss) and Survey of the Game Industry were today’s classes.

    Oh man, poor reboot. You’re probably one of the smartest people around, yet you’ll still have to kiss a lot of ass to get a good job in your field. Hopefully I’m wrong, but it just seems like people with science skills are underappreciated - feared even, so you end up working for some evil corporation that wants you to create a new illness (and then patent the treatment) or your helping make weapons that kill millions of people in third world countries… wait, that last one actually sounds kinda cool.

    @tiki - like the redesign of the site, nice clean look.

    @chaingunner - sorry to hear that you are at an AI school, I went to AIP in 2000-2003 and must say my education and degree went nowhere.(special effects/IDT). But Games/3d animation is a much more growing field.

    I graduated last May, and am happy with my job… but school was good to me. Maybe it’s because animators never really have to grow up? I don’t miss bullshit classes, but I do miss the art classes.

    I’m actually aiming for the ‘nanobots wipe out all life’ type of evil :)
    But, yeah, lots of ass kissing involved. The only reason I’m a TA is to brown nose one of the professors on my thesis committee.
    I would recommend that just about anyone go to college. There’s hot chicks, geeky friends, booze, drugs, parties, learning. I’ve loved every minute of college, all seven years of it.

    Awesome! Actually if you could at least unleash ‘nanobots that sterilize 90% of the human population’, you sir, would be my hero, and would save the earth, and one day there would be several golden statues in honour of you (since people would then have lots more disposable income). Wow, I’m really in to the rage rants today.

    I am too old for this site.

    I finished my masters like 6 years ago. Granted I bolted through school so maybe I’m younger than a few of you? I mean high school was alright but university was great. Then in grad school my gf swallowed. I thought life would only keep getting better so I kept rushing.

    I was wrong. Well it’s better in some ways but the lack of responsibility, easy chicks with pert and firm titties, and the easy chicks with pert and firm titties makes me long for yesterday.

    Redesign is pretty much the old template with a diff font no? Or is this a whole new Wordpress theme?

    God help you if you ever hard code the whole thing yourself muchacho.

    I don’t go back to school until Jan. 17th. But I’m taking 19th Century Philosophy this semester, and I’m dreading having to read Kant and Hegel on top of an already reading-packed semester. Thankfully, this is my last semester and then I’ll have my BA in philosophy. Then it’s on to grad school, but not in philosophy. I’m so sick of that shit!

    My classes start on the 16th. Only two this semester, with the new job and all. Theater and Chemistry, what the christ?

    I took philosophy last semester and I had to read Descartes, Kant, and a little bit of Hegel.

    It was a bit interesting, but nontheless, I can feel a bit of your pain.

    And holy shiite?! B.A. in Philosophy? I’d probably go mentally nuts before I graduate with that degree.

    No first day of class, but I did go back to work and it did majorly suck. But being back at work means I am back on here, and having two weeks of stuff to go through will keep me occupied for a while, so it isn’t all that bad.

    I’m taking a year off from school. Also why in the hell do i need to take African American Studies to become a network specialist?
