Imperial TIE fighters are the primary starfighters of the Imperial Navy. Although lacking deflector shields, it overpowers opposition with firepower, speed and superior numbers.

      Now the TIE Interceptor.

Blast! Beat me to it. Definitely need to see plans for the TIE interceptor. OR the TIE defender…

I like the TIE Bomber, and Vader’s TIE too, the regular one is just so…. It’s the Star Wars version of the redshirt.

Man, the TIE fighters where basicly escape pods with guns. They didn’t even had life support. Being an imperial pilot was the worst thing ever.

Having played every Star Wars flight sim on PC (up to “X-wing: Alliance”), I can attest that these things were utter crap. Fast and maneuverable, yes. But two lasers and MAYBE some missiles just wasn’t enough unless you were GOOD. The fact that I managed to beat “TIE Fighter” at all was a miracle, as I found myself in this tin-can more often than anyone sane would care to be.

The TIE Defender, on the other hand, was a DREAM to pilot. Had the Empire managed to come up with the cash to crank those out anywhere near standard TIE Fighters, and the Rebellion would’ve died before most people ever heard of it.

At least I never had to fly an Ugly. The TIE-wing alone would’ve sent me back to Doom.
