no way hepathos, i saw a bootleg of it online and liked it so much i am actually going to see it in theaters. it was awesome. especially since i am planning on becoming a virologist. it would be so cool if i was responsible for wiping out 90% of the earths human population.

Because, traditionally, ‘an harmonica’ was the very, very, very rich way of speaking, probably under the influence of old French (the old Norman nobility might have been iffy on their h’s).

Ha! You might think it odd, but over at the country club, I bet half the John Kerry/George Bush everyman politicians you throw away your vote for say ‘an harmonica’ all the time, or ‘an hundred dollar bill used to light this cigar, old chap!’.

Hm, I’m gonna use ghost11’s faux pas to bring up something that bugs me to no end. But I do get the joke, and many lulz were had.

Ok, so the rule (possibly the only rule in English that is universally consistent) is that an goes before a vowel sound, a before a consonant.

It’s so simple, it never changes. So why does CNN insist on using an before history, historic, and a few other h words that start with the h sound?

This seriously bothers me. A whole lot. It couldn’t be easier people. A university. An honor. A hat. An umbrella.

Universal.

it’s grammatically incorrect it should be “Become a legend” not “become an legend” you only use an when the next word starts with a vowel
