i can think of three free-world countries that censor the internet more heavily than china does today. Looks like the ausis are going for a world record and teh kiwis are characteristically struggling to catch up.

The funny thing is in the last little bit a lot of my favourite uncensored web sites are complaining about being blocked by the vegimite eaters

OK, ok, I’ll concede that point, so we have rating bodies in the US. But the ESRB and the FCC do not prevent you from showing what you want to show (so long as you aren’t showing it to the wrong audience). And we don’t have mandatory governmentally imposed blocks on internet sites, and what we can and cannot see on TV, Radio, or the Intarwebs. (At least not yet, though I’ll admit to being concerned about it more recently…)

In fact I think ratings and such are a good thing. I just don’t believe in wholesale governmental media blocking. Or any blocking for that matter… Which is where the PRC Phails. Epically…
