Someone needs to send that pic to Congress.
Oh and I think the wig actually showed authority or power or something. Goes to show how things change, even if it has been around 200 years or so.

I know in the UK to wigs are used in the courts to differenciate the politicians and lawyers from the criminals. They can be difficult to tell apart otherwise.

In reference to the above image, none of the three men pictured is actually wearing a whig.
