  1. Indeed. Ain’t she a beautiful sight.

  2. There are several of these stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. They go flying over the city, making the most distinctive sound of any aircraft out here.

  3. wtf. I live close to Fort Bragg/Pope AFB in NC and I’ve seen all kinds of weird crap, but never one of these.

  4. Wasn’t this thing a bit defective? Read about a couple of incidents which made it a bit of a flying brick.

  5. But it *looks* almost as cool as the B-2 Spirit, which I’m pretty sure is the point of most of those things.

  6. I work about a mile from Kirtland AFB and these things fly over my office multiple times a day. They’re pretty cool and, as Wookie_X stated, they’ve got the most distinctive sound. They sound like a cross between a prop plane and a helicopter.

  7. @ WhiskeyTango

    Maybe…just maybe….that’s because they are….

  8. I see these old boys fly over my house all the time..they make em right here in amarillo tx at the Bell Helicopter plant.

  9. One of the worst planes ever made….

  10. I read some where that they wanted to make a four rotor version. I could be wrong but if any one has more intel I would like to know more.
