This is from ‘house of M’ a storyline from a year or 2 ago: essentially, every superhero is granted their heart’s desire. Spidey gets to be rich and famous and loved by everyone, but still screws it up because he’s too frickin emo!

i got house of m at borders. its under spider man house of m. the original house of m has a separate storyline where they fix the universe.
*SPOILERS* in the universe, humans are minority and mutants are majority. x-men mutants, not metahumans. essentially, spidey posed as a mutant, was loved by ppl. however, in his diary it was revealed he was a metahuman, so when it was shown to the populus, mutants hated him. to let his family live in peace, he faked his death.
