**Historical note**
The Persian “Immortals” wore no such masks in battle . But they did have a nifty cap.
I thought that was a Death Eater.

pretty easy to intimidate your enemy when you’re all wearing those.
The real Immortals were a light infantry with wicker shields. They were best used against light cavalry and archers; neither of which faced them at Thermopylae.
Frank Miller’s graphic novel is cool, but I suggest reading Stephen Pressfield’s “Gates of Fire” for the most kick-ass book about that battle.
