it’s a Koi fish
While they may be Koi, one of them is clearly gold.
Koi = gold fish
duh.
Normally I’d say fish are fish, who gives a crap but but it just so happens that my gf has a koi pond in her backyard…I think all of these guys are kois. Oh, and koi’s are not the same as goldfish:
“They are very closely related to goldfish and, in fact, the style of breeding and ornamentation has become very similar, probably through the efforts of Japanese breeders to emulate goldfish.” – Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koi)
The gold one in the picture looks like one of the bottom fishes in the following koi fish chart: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/Mango_koi.jpg
I like ducks much more.
It’s fun to step on the Koi in those little ponds in Chinese restaurants.
Kois are more like carp.
Goldfish are carp, too. They come from Crucian carp.
Koi literally means carp.
Nishikigoi means brocaded carp, which is what you see, but they are generally referred to as koi because nobody wants to say that all the time. I work at a water garden place.
