Retarded macro. Fascinating story.
A very old cat of mine died in December, he was senile and disliked by my other cats. But in the day or two before he died they were incredibly friendly to him.
Conversely, lots of cats will go out of their way to be alone just before they die themselves.

I had a cat that would lay on my face when I was sick… It’s possible he was trying to finish me off (he weighed over 11 kilos).

That is pretty crazy. (Both the story and the fact that you had an 11 kilo cat)

One time when I was really sick (sinus drainage and a variant of strep throat) my cat slept in my room the entire night, which he never does.
