To be more specific, the problem with his analogy is that you are not "locked in". If America gets too bad, the smart people will leave. Without smart people around, it will take about twenty years to become a crap weak country. Then other countries will start to run it until they can get their stuff back together. Same thing happened to the Ottoman Empire, the Germans and the Soviets in the twentieth century. Its the cycle of history, but it doesn't mean that democracy or voting don't work.

Would have been better if they'd used "democracy" instead of "voting" but the Principle’s the same and to be fair Spider Jerusalem raises a good argument, direct democrac fails because the will of the majority results in a failure to protect the interests of the minority.

You want to know about bullshit analogies.

I’m here to tell you about bullshit analogies.

Imagine you’re locked in a huge contrived situation that is completely divorced from reality.

And there's an external force that goes completely unexamined because if you actually questioned it the entire scenario would be meaningless.

You like to look at funny pictures of cats while your code compiles.

They like to have act tough and come up with intellectually vacuous statements about the nature of the world.

So you take it easy while they work themselves into a frenzy over pointless dystopian views while being too pansy to actually do anything about it.

    That’s bullshit analogies.

    You’re welcome.
