I hate giant grasshoppers. Hate them hate them hate them. I knew a woman once that kept them as pets… I had to leave her house pronto. Retch…
(South Floridian here as well.)
We saw these as babies one year at Wooten’s Alligator farm in the ‘Glades. Little black things with a yellow or orange stripe down the back.. and they were EVERYWHERE.. swarmlike, if you will. Eating each other with reckless abandon. We went back the next summber, and they had become these things. Ex-Port Charlotte’r, myself.
Never seen an orange one. pretty cool. why would you be afraid of them? Bees, on the other hand, I can understand.
