    I’ve seen them sold in this huge glass cylinder outside Stuttgart that made it look more like a gumball machine. Crazy.

    I’ve driven the Four4, the four door version, and it wasn’t the best thing in the world, but it did fit more than I thought, kept up fairly well in Italian traffic, and the mpg was acceptable at the equivalent of $6/gallon.

    There’s a sweet third model though – the roadster.

    i dont like the smart car but just to set the record straight they are extremly strong in accidents and they are actually safer than a ford truvk like the f 150.

    but on a sadder point for the car teens have actually been arrested for tipping them over so yes it is a lightweight car.

    Yes, they’re sold in the US now as imports. I like them actually, but Consumer Reports said that the Smart 4Two was the worst car they’ve ever driven.

    Also, there are a few other versions. I’ve driven the 4Four, and there used to be the Smart Roadster, which looked fantastic.

    but its easy to drive, a good car for the city (okay, probably not on the west-coast..)

    Transmission is mentioned twice. I think consumer reports REALLY does not like the transmission in that car.

    i agree, the fortwo test results are good compared to the ones of other small cars. it’s not bad, but most sedans nowadays get way higher scores.

    on the other hand, cmon, it is kind of needless to cart around 5 tons of … car and maybe 180 lbs of payload. or at least expensive.

    They got 43 mpg out of it. Ok, a 1990 CRX HF made 49 city and 52 hwy. Now i’ve made 43 mpg avg. on a tank of gas in my 90 CRX Si, which is still a 2 seater, looks waaaay better and is still quick enough to outrun tiki’s F-150. Of course, I’ve modified mine to make it faster while improving gas mileage though. Remember, these cars were made in 1990.

    Forgot to add, all my modifications are smog legal, it still passes incpection and they could easily, cheaply be done from the factory…

    well only 2 persons fit in, but i ride in one of those cars frequently on the “AUTOBAHN” /hint hint/ and they’re roomier than they look, and pretty fast too. very good gas mileage too. they look puny thogh, i’ll give you that.
