This is the place where the sidewalk ends
-Shel Silverstein, ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’
Oh, does it? I would have never noticed it had ended… thank you Mr. McObvious Sign
Perhaps it should read, “Patchy, crabgrass lawn begins.”
There’s a similar sign near my job; the sidewalk turns into a rough dirt path. There’s a big wordy sign disclaiming ownership, responsibility, and maintenance for any part of the path beyond where the sidewalk ends.
I always thought it was for snow removal crews that would otherwise not know the end was near because of the snow cover. But if you don’t get snow, there goes that theory.
